Through participation in sport, students learn discipline, time management, team work and other skills useful for life. With school budget cuts and rising costs of equipment, facilities and travel, school FUSD athletics are in danger. Now is the most critical time for you to be involved. Most of the burden of rising costs, including travel expenses, fall upon parents and students.

Here is a sample of what it costs to play a sport in high school today:
Soccer: cleats, practice cleats, ball, uniforms, travel = over $350
Swimming: meet suit, practice suits, cap, goggles, towel, travel = over $350
Football: uniform, practice uniforms,helmet, ball = over $700
Cross Country: practice shoes, meet shoes, uniform, warm-ups, travel = $350
Cheerleading: uniforms (skirt, basketball shirt, football shirt, football sweater, kick pants, two pairs of socks, shoes, other), camp expenses (camp fee, travel, food, camp uniforms, other), travel, and other fees = Over $1,000 per year!

The above costs are out-of-pocket cost per student per sport. Your sponsorship will help lessen these out-of-pocket costs for struggling students and their parents.

With your help, the GESF can continue to lessen the burden for parents that want their children to participate in sport or cheerleading at the high school level, and continue to help fund top notch athletics at the junior high and elementary school levels.

The Happy Fish Run 4 Education is the primary, annual fundraiser for the Guy Emanuele Sports Fund.
